AAC preseason poll predicts seventh-place finish for Cavaliers

WALESKA, Ga.— According to a release from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) office Wednesday morning, the Montreat College women's lacrosse team is anticipated to finish seventh in the league standings. The Cavaliers picked up 11 points in the 2026 AAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll, one fewer than Columbia College.

The University of the Cumberlands narrowly edged out Reinhardt University with four first-place votes and 46 total voting points to land on top of the conference preseason poll.

Montreat is coming off a campaign in which it went 0-13 overall and 0-5 in league play. The Cavs competed as the No. 6 seed in the AAC Tournament last April, ultimately falling to Georgetown College.

The AAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll was voted on by the head coaches of each institution in the league. Programs secured seven points for a first-place vote, six points for second place, five for third place and so on until all seven squads were ranked. The standings were then organized by most points received to least points received.

Montreat is currently set to kick off its 2026 regular season schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 11 versus Pfeiffer University in Black Mountain, N.C.
