WALESKA, Ga.— The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) unveiled its 2025 Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll late Thursday morning, and according to the release, the Montreat College Cavaliers found themselves standing alone in fifth place.
Overall, the Cavs secured 109 points in the voting process, two more than both Johnson University and Columbia International University and 28 fewer than Milligan University. Truett McConnell University corralled 11 first-place votes and 180 total voting points as the conference's favorite to repeat as regular season and tournament champions.
Montreat saw its 2024 campaign cut short due to Hurricane Helene. Ultimately, the Cavaliers played seven regular season matches last year, going 3-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 in AAC play.
The 2025 AAC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll was voted on by the head coaches of each institution in the league. Teams received 14 points for a first-place vote, 13 for second place, 12 for third place and so on until all 14 teams were ranked. Programs were then ordered by most points received to least points received.
With a solid regular season showing, the Cavs plan on being among the 10 squads who make the AAC Tournament. This year's postseason bracket is slated to run from late October through early November at various host sites.
