MONTREAT, N.C.— Four months after being tabbed as the interim head coach of the Montreat College cycling program,
Doug Cline is getting his temporary tag removed. According to an announcement from the athletics department earlier this week, Cline is officially the Cavaliers' head cycling coach, effective immediately.
"We are excited to officially welcome Coach Cline to our athletic department," said Director of Athletics
Garrett Jones. "His humility and servant's heart to lead our cycling program during a time of transition was greatly appreciated. Coach Cline aligns with us so well, and I'm excited to see the impact he will have as we continue building the foundation for this program together."
Cline was selected to serve as the cycling program's interim head coach in April of 2025. He came to Montreat with a plethora of experience in the world of cycling. The Lynchburg, Va. native coached at the high school level across eight years in both California and South Carolina. Cline was also part of the core staff at the Georgia Cycling Association for four years. An active competitor as well, Cline has spent the past 20 years racing and participating in cycling events.
"This area is rich in cycling, and I want to help collegiate cyclists achieve their goals, compete with everything they have, have fun and create a community of lifelong cyclists," Cline shared.
A graduate of Liberty University, Cline lives in Black Mountain, N.C. with his wife and their golden retriever. Together, the couple has three daughters.
