GREENSBURG, Ky.— The Montreat College cycling team jumped back into action on Saturday and Sunday in Greensburg, Ky. for the Lindsey Wilson MTB Showdown hosted by Lindsey Wilson College. Racing in four disciplines across two days, the Cavaliers' two competitors combined for one win and six total finishes on a challenging course.
Lucas Zeringue captured the Cavs' victory during the weekend action. Taking on a 13-participant field in the short track cross country men's C category, Zeringue outraced his competition to the finish line. The Jacksonville, Fla. native needed only 20:16 to beat out his fellow cyclists.
Racing two additional instances at Lindsey Wilson, Zeringue also ended 15
th and 30
th in the men's A class of the downhill and dual slalom events, respectively. The freshman utilized a time of 57.2 seconds in the former, besting 18 other riders in the process. Meanwhile, Zeringue beat four competitors during the latter event.
Sarah McCallister also represented the Cavaliers in Kentucky. Competing in the women's B/C dual slalom, McCallister concluded fifth out of six participants. The sophomore also raced in the women's A category for short track cross country and cross country. Riding on the shorter track, McCallister placed 20
th out of 24 thanks to her time of 31:37. Meanwhile, the Birmingham, Ala. native's 1:13:47 time earned 21
st out of 22 in the cross country discipline.
"Our third race of the season brought new challenges and a fun course in Kentucky," said head coach
Doug Cline. "Lucas pushed himself with short track cross country and finished first in his class. Sarah rode short track cross country and cross country courses that were challenging and fun, and she fought hard in the dust and sunshine."

Montreat heads next to Banner Elk, N.C. this Saturday and Sunday for the Collegiate MTB Challenge at Lees-McRae College.
