Brown elevated to full-time assistant role within volleyball program

MONTREAT, N.C.— The Montreat College Athletic Department announced the hiring of a new full-time assistant volleyball coach earlier this week. After spending the 2024 season in a volunteer capacity, Isaiah Brown was officially elevated to full-time assistant status. He begins his duties with the team immediately.

"We're excited to officially welcome Isaiah Brown to our staff as an assistant coach," said head coach Cristina Viera. "Isaiah has been an integral part of our program since last season, volunteering his time and energy with unwavering commitment. His knowledge of the game, calm presence and ability to connect with our athletes have already made a meaningful impact, and we're thrilled to have him step into this role."

Brown served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Montreat volleyball program during the 2024 season. With Brown's aid, the Cavaliers began the year 5-0, getting off to their best start in at least 20 years. The Mesa, Ariz. native helped coach the Cavs to a 9-12 (9-11 Appalachian Athletic Conference) record, seizing the AAC Tournament's No. 9 seed in the process. Montreat also picked up numerous conference and national Player of the Week nods, as well as a First Team All-AAC honor during Brown's time as a volunteer assistant coach.

"I'm excited to continue working with the team at a higher capacity, as well as to continue to help our program and athletes develop beyond the success of past years in all aspects of athletic, academic and spiritual life," Brown shared.

Not just a member of the volleyball staff, Brown also assisted the Cavaliers' men's basketball program in a volunteer role during the 2024-25 season.

Prior to his time at Montreat, Brown spent 2019-2024 at the University of Valley Forge in Phoenixville, Pa. A multi-sport athlete, Brown played both men's volleyball and men's basketball for four seasons. Following his playing career, Brown acted as a men's basketball assistant coach for the 2023-24 campaign.

Academically, Brown earned a pair of degrees from Valley Forge. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management degree in 2022, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree in 2024.

Brown currently resides in Black Mountain, N.C.
