KANSAS CITY, Mo.— For the first time since 2022, the Montreat College women's tennis team has an All-American. According to a release from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Friday morning,
Chiharu Ito garnered a place on the NAIA All-America Third Team.
A native of Shizuoka, Japan, Ito registered a 10-5 record in singles play, including an 8-3 showing on the No. 1 court. Seven of Ito's victories occurred during Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matches, while the other three took place versus NCAA Division I and II competition.
Playing exclusively in the top pairing, Ito also went 6-11 in doubles action. Five of Ito's six wins came against NAIA opposition, while the other happened during a clash against Belmont Abbey College.
Ainhoa Ordonez was Ito's doubles partner in all 17 of her matches.
Ito closed out the year with six consecutive appearances inside the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) NAIA Women's Singles Rankings. The freshman ranked as high as 37
th during the season, and she finished the year at No. 48 overall.

The Montreat women's tennis team ended its season with a defeat to Milligan University in the AAC Tournament. Overall, the Cavaliers notched a 4-13 (4-5 AAC) record during the 2025 campaign.
