SWANNANOA, N.C. — The Montreat College women's tennis team dropped a home nonconference matchup on Tuesday morning, falling 5-0 to in-state NCAA Division I opponent North Carolina A&T State University. The Cavaliers did not secure a win in singles or doubles play.

Montreat fell behind early after dropping the doubles point to N.C. A&T. On the top court, Catalina Pan and Clara Roman were defeated 6-2, while Ana Marija Horvacki and Yamile Cuiza lost 6-1 at the second position. The No. 3 doubles match did not include any Montreat players.

In singles play, Cuiza was the first to finish for Montreat at the third spot, falling 6-1, 6-0. Horvacki followed with a 6-2, 6-1 setback at No. 4. Roman took to the top court and dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision, clinching the match for the Aggies. Pan put up a strong fight on court two but came up short 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, sealing the 5-0 outcome.

The Cavaliers will wrap up their regular season this Saturday, April 18, as they host Methodist University in a nonconference clash. First serve is set for 3 p.m. at Asheville Christian Academy in Swannanoa, N.C.
