WALESKA, Ga.— Chiharu Ito secured numerous postseason awards, that according to a release from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Thursday evening. Not only did Ito land on the All-AAC First Team, but she also captured AAC All-Freshman Team and AAC Champions of Character Team recognition.
A native of Shizuoka, Japan, Ito went 10-5 in singles action during the 2025 regular season. Playing exclusively on the top two courts, the freshman racked up an 8-3 record at No. 1 and a 2-2 record at No. 2. Meanwhile, Ito won five of her 16 doubles clashes, all of which were played in the top pairing.
The all-conference awards were voted on and selected by the women's tennis coaches of the AAC.
Along with the on-court honors, a pair of Cavaliers garnered spots on the AAC All-Academic Team.
Annika Rojas and
Ali Zakariasen met the requirements to receive all-academic status.
To qualify for the AAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must hold at least sophomore academic status and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Each institution in the league also received one spot on the AAC Champions of Character Team, and the recipients were chosen by each program's head coach.

Montreat lost a 4-0 final versus Milligan University earlier today during the first round of the AAC Tournament. With the defeat, the Cavs ended the 2025 season with a 4-13 (4-5 AAC) record.
