WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.— The Montreat men's and women's tennis teams traveled to the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. on Saturday for the UC Invite 1. With the overall purpose of getting match experience under their belts, the Cavaliers flashed some skill on the tennis courts, particularly in doubles play.
 
Already with one invitational in the rearview mirror, the men's tennis program picked up right where it left off. Of the six men's doubles matchups, the Cavs claimed victory in five. Montreat squared off against a mixture of Midway University and Milligan University pairings across doubles action.
 
On the women's side, the Cavaliers took to the court for the first time since the conclusion of the 2021-22 season. Chiharu Ito and Ainhoa Ordonez won a pair of doubles matches to highlight the women's performance from Saturday.
 
The UC Invite 1 also featured singles play. With both Cumberlands teams bearing top 25 rankings in the national poll, the Patriots maintained the upper hand during the individual matches.
 
Both the Montreat men's and women's tennis teams now turn their attention toward the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NAIA South Regional Championships, which are slated for this Thursday through Sunday at Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, Ga.
