JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. — The Montreat College women's golf team began its 2026-27 campaign on Sunday and Monday with a trio of rounds at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational, hosted by the College of Coastal Georgia. A pair of athletes, including one returner and one newcomer, represented the Cavaliers on the Great Dunes Course at Jekyll Island Golf Club.
 
Junior Sara Rothrock played 54 holes across the two days of action, tying for 72^nd out of 82 golfers on the individual leaderboard. The Rutherfordton, N.C. native turned in scores of 97 and 105 on Sunday and 99 on Monday for her final tally of 301. Rothrock notched four pars during each of her day one rounds before registering five pars across her final 18 to conclude her tournament.
 
Freshman Olivia Merrell made her collegiate debut for the Cavs at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational, placing 76^th overall. The newcomer shot 106 and 105 on Sunday prior to carding a 107 on Monday to wrap up Montreat's time on the course. Merrell delivered a pair of pars in her first and third rounds, as well as one par during her middle 18.

The Montreat College women's golf team returns to action on Sept. 28-29 when it travels to Johnson City, Tenn. for the East Tennessee Collegiate, hosted by Milligan University.
