JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The Montreat College women's golf team returned to competition on Monday and Tuesday at the East Tennessee Collegiate, hosted by Milligan University. The Cavaliers were represented by two golfers at Johnson City Country Club in Johnson City, Tenn.
The 36-hole tournament featured two rounds of play, with
Sara Rothrock finishing 12th among 19 golfers. The junior opened with a 103 on day one before carding a 90 on day two to finish with a combined total of 193. Rothrock recorded one par across her initial 18 holes before posting five over the final 18.
Freshman
Olivia Merrell was the second Cav in the field, finishing in 16th on the individual leaderboard. Merrell carded a 105 during Monday's opening round before posting a 101 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 206. The freshman tallied a trio of pars in her first 18 holes before adding another three during the final round.
"Proud of the girls this week for keeping a great attitude," said Head Coach
John Sullivan. "Scores are trending in the right direction, so we will keep working and improving."

The Cavaliers will close out their fall slate at the AAC Fall Preview on Oct. 19-20. The tournament is set to take place at Old Union Golf Course in Blairsville, Ga.
