JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The Montreat College women's golf team traveled to Johnson City, Tenn. on Tuesday to compete in the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout, a one-day, two-round tournament at Johnson City Country Club. Facing a 36-hole format, the Cavaliers finished seventh in an eight-team field, posting a 388 in the opening round before improving to 379 in round two.
Montreat ended nine strokes behind Spartanburg Methodist College in sixth, as well as 147 shots ahead of eighth-place Johnson & Wales University Charlotte.
Reese Coltrane led Montreat's five participants, helping the team combine for a total of 767. The Lincolnton, N.C. native finished 17th out of 41 competitors, carding rounds of 85 and 86. She recorded 14 pars across her 36 holes played and added a birdie on the back nine in the second round to finish with a total score of 171.
Sara Rothrock (103 and 89) was the next-best finisher for the Cavs thanks to her effort of 192. She posted nine pars and a birdie on hole six to place 32nd. Meanwhile, Chloe Peters (96 and 108), Hannah Stewart (105 and 100) and Abbey Coyle (104 and 104) concluded their tournaments in succession. Peters added four pars and a birdie on the ninth hole to lead the trio with a 204, good for 35th. Stewart recorded a 205 and a 36th-place finish behind 10 pars. Coyle contributed four pars, two in each round, for the 37th-best score of 208.

The Cavaliers return to action on April 27-29 at Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Ga., competing in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Direct Qualifier.
