MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.— Montreat's women's wrestling team traveled to Mount Olive, N.C. for their first action of the 2024-25 season. The Trojan Open played host to 28 organizations sending wrestlers to compete, with a handful of unattached competitors as well.
Morgan Repasky placed third in the 103-lb division. Repasky (3-1) started her day with a forfeit win. Her second round match resulted in a 10-0 win by tech fall. Repasky dropped the semifinal match by a 10-0 tech fall. In the consolation bracket, she advanced to the third place match thanks to a pin in 3:26. During her concluding match, she finished with a victory due to an injury default after the first round.
Nicole Lewis also finished fourth competing in the 160-lb weight class. She opened her tournament run with a 10-0 tech fall victory. In round two, Lewis (4-1) notched another victory in the exact same way. She won a third straight match by a 10-0 tech fall over an unattached wrestler. Lewis was then on the receiving end of a 10-0 tech fall to put her in the consolation bracket. Lewis was the busiest out of all the Cavs, participating in the most matches with six. She then won thanks to a pin after 2:20 in the competition to send her to the third place match where she lost via fall after 2:54 to end her competition.
Chloe Carver finished with a record of 2-2 on the day. She lost her initial match at 110 after a fall in 3:39. Carver found her groove and won her next two matches, both via pin in 4:29 and 0:43 respectively.
Shelby Sherman competed in the 124-lb division and finished with a 1-2 record. All three of her competitions ended with pins. The first was in her favor after only 52 seconds. The other two went against her in 4:47 and 2:51 in that order.
The freshman
Annastasia Skoda also finished with a 1-2 record on the day. She lost her first contest by a 10-0 tech fall. Her bye in the first round of the consolation propelled her to her first win as in round two as she was able to win her initial match as a Cav by a 11-0 tech fall. Skoda then fell in her next match after suffering a pin in 3:53 to end her competition.
Uriah Peters-Gutierrez competed in the 145-lb weight class. The freshman from Goose Creek, S.C. won her first bout with a pin after 1:14. She then lost her next two after falls in 46 seconds and 2:45.
Audrey Gribble (1-2) lost her first match at 207. Gribble received a bye in the consolation bracket. She then answered with a victory via tech fall over a competitor from Randolph College by a score of 10-0. Her final match of the day ended when she was pinned after 2:38.
"It was a great tournament to open our season, and I am proud of the way our group competed," said head coach
Koby Reyes. "We were able to identify some strengths and other areas that we can improve upon. Looking forward to a day off and then getting back to work as we prepare for the Eagle Madness next weekend."

The Cavs look forward to their second open tournament next weekend, Eagle Madness. The contest will be hosted by Life University in Marietta, Ga.
