Montreat College announced the hiring of Koby Reyes as the third head coach in the history of its women’s wrestling program in February of 2024. He completed his second season with the Cavaliers in 2025-26.

YEAR-BY-YEAR HIGHLIGHTS

2025-26
  • Went 14-7 (3-5 MSC) during the season. 
  • Received votes in the NAIA Women’s Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 for the first time since Nov. 9, 2023 (RV in preseason ratings on 10/16/25).
  • Dinayah Vazquez notched the highest NAIA individual ranking in program history (Ranked No. 7 in the 110-lb weight class on 10/16/25).
  • Received a program-record 23 points in the NAIA Women’s Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 (24th-most among teams receiving votes on 11/6/25 and 12/11/25 polls).
  • Program-record four wrestlers individually ranked in NAIA Women’s Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 (12/11/25).
  • Went 6-0 at The Strong & Courageous Duals, marking the most team dual wins at a single event in program history (11/15).
  • Notched the largest team dual margin of victory in program history versus Lourdes University (W 43-4 12/5).
  • Began the year 9-0, marking the best start to a season in program history.
  • Won the program’s first ever team dual inside McAlister Gymnasium against Brewton-Parker Christian (W 38-12 2/5).
  • Tallied 14 team dual wins during the campaign, the most in a single season in program history.
  • Placed seventh out of 13 squads at the Mid-South Conference Women’s Wrestling Championships (34.0 points).
  • Coached Morgan Repasky (5th at 103), Audrey Gribble (5th at 180) and Sheyla Ochoa Salgado (6th at 117) to place at the Mid-South Conference Women’s Wrestling Championships (2/20).
  • Aided Morgan Repasky and Daniela Espinal to punch their tickets to the 2026 NAIA Women’s Wrestling Championships, marking the first time in program history in which the Cavaliers sent multiple wrestlers to nationals.
  • Tied for 34th out of 37 programs at the 2026 NAIA Women’s Wrestling Championships (0.0 points).
  • Coached Daniela Espinal and Sheyla Ochoa Salgado to both set the program record for most wins in a single season with 26 (previous record was 25).
  • Program named an NAIA Scholar Team.
  • 2 CSC Academic All-District® Women’s At-Large Team members, 2 NAIA National Qualifiers, 3 NAIA Scholar-Athletes and 6 MSC All-Academic Team selections. 
2024-25
  • Went 7-6 (4-4 MSC) during the season.
  • Picked up his first collegiate head coaching win versus (RV) Brewton-Parker (W 29-17 on 11/16).
  • Beat St. Andrews in the first home dual in program history (W 35-15 on 2/6).
  • Most dual wins in a single season in program history.
  • Finished over .500 for the first time in program history.
  • Went .500 against Mid-South Conference foes for the first time in program history.
  • Finished a program-best seventh out of 12 teams at the MSC Women's Wrestling Championships (24.0 points).
  • Coached Morgan Repasky (103 lb.) to an at-large berth to the NAIA Women's Wrestling Championships.
  • Athlete achievements: 1 CSC Academic All-District® At-Large Team honoree, 4 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes, 5 MSC All-Academic Team members, 4 NWCA Scholar All-Americans.

PRIOR TO MONTREAT
 
Prior to Montreat, Reyes spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s wrestling squad at Southeastern University. Through his time at SEU, the Fire amassed 23 national qualifiers, 12 All-Americans and a pair of national champions.
 
From 2021 into 2022, Reyes was an assistant with the Arizona Christian University Firestorm. The Billings, Mont. native saw five national qualifiers and an All-American go through the program while on the staff.
 
Before coaching, Reyes competed as an athlete at a trio of NCAA Division I institutions. He began his career at Arizona State, wrestled at Boise State in 2017 and finished his college career at Purdue from 2017 to 2019.
 
Reyes graduated from Purdue in 2019 with a degree in sociology. He currently lives in Montreat, N.C. with his wife, Anne Marie, and their two children
