BOWLING GREEN, Ky.— The Montreat College women's wrestling team traveled to Bowling Green, Ky. on Friday for the 2026 Mid-South Conference Women's Wrestling Championships. With 12 Cavaliers in the lineup, Montreat accumulated three individual placements and 34.0 points as a squad, good for seventh out of 13 programs.
Life University won the conference championship with 211.5 points. The Cavs picked up 8.0 more points than Rochester Christian University but 15.5 fewer points than Georgetown College.
Morgan Repasky and
Audrey Gribble secured fifth-place marks in their respective weight classes on Friday. A native of Marion, N.C., Repasky went 2-2 during her tournament run at 103. After receiving an opening round bye, Repasky made quick work of her quarterfinal opponent, notching a pin in just 40 seconds. Meanwhile, in the semifinal bout, Repasky ended up on the wrong side of a pin against the NAIA's No. 2-ranked wrestler. The sophomore then dropped a tight 6-4 decision before bouncing back with a 65-second pin in the fifth-place matchup. Overall, Repasky added 12.0 points to the Cavaliers' total, and she captured a wild card berth to nationals through the MSC.
Gribble rattled off a 3-2 record in the 180-lb weight class bracket. The Snow College transfer was pinned by the 12
th-rated wrestler in her initial bout, but she rebounded with back-to-back wins, the first of which was an 11-8 decision and the second of which was a 10-0 tech fall. Battling another highly-ranked foe, this time No. 3 in the NAIA, Gribble lost another match via pin. However, Gribble utilized that recipe to her own advantage in the fifth-place clash, pinning down her foe in 3:53. The South Jordan, Utah native proved responsible for 11.0 points of the team's tally and remains eligible for potential wild card selection to the national championships next month.
Sheyla Ochoa Salgado rounded out the placers for Montreat at the MSC Championships. The freshman turned in a 2-3 record at 117 to conclude sixth and score 10.0 team points. Ochoa Salgado opened her tournament journey with a triumph via pin in 2:27. After being pinned in her quarterfinal match, Ochoa Salgado trapped her consolation competition against the mat in just 77 seconds. Back-to-back losses, including one to the NAIA's No. 9-ranked wrestler, closed out Ochoa Salgado's afternoon.
Daniela Espinal scored 1.0 point with her 1-2 showing in the 124-lb weight class bracket. She squeezed out a decision victory during her initial bout before being pinned twice, one of which came at the hands of the 16
th-rated wrestler in the NAIA. Like Gribble, Espinal will await her fate to find out if she will be granted a wild card berth to the national tournament.
"What a great event that the Mid-South Conference put on today," said head coach
Koby Reyes. "The competition was loaded, and I'm proud of our effort. Now, we set our eyes on preparing for nationals."
