GREENEVILLE, Tenn.— The Montreat women's golf team closed the book on its 2022-23 season with the annual Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Direct Qualifier. Playing on Monday and Tuesday at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn., the Cavaliers totaled a 2-round score of 808, placing ninth out of nine teams.
As a squad on day one, the Cavs' four golfers combined to shoot a 413, good for ninth on the team leaderboard. Like she has for much of the season,
Carmen Fraley paced Montreat through 18 holes. The senior from Salisbury, N.C. ended the day in a tie for 32
nd out of 50 individual golfers after she utilized five pars to card an opening-round 90.
Freshman
Abbey Coyle notched the second-most pars among the Cavaliers competing in round one. Coyle tallied a trio of pars, all on the front nine, to shoot 101 and sit in a tie for 41
st individually. Meanwhile,
Hannah Stewart (47
th) and
Torie Yeomans (49
th) wrapped up Montreat's scoring with a 110 and 112, respectively.
Montreat improved its team score from Monday to Tuesday by shaving 18 strokes off its round-to-round mark. All four Cavs bettered their individual tallies during the second round, including Fraley, who capitalized on her trio of pars and a birdie to card an 87. Fraley's 2-day total of 177 left her in a tie for 30
th individually.
Coyle collected five pars on day two as she registered a 100 on her final 18 holes. The Harrison, Ohio native finished 43
rd overall with her final total of 201. Stewart and Yeomans each recorded a 104 on the second day of action to place 46
th and tied for 47
th, respectively.
