CORBIN, Ky. — The head men's golf coaches of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) compiled their votes on Thursday for this year's AAC Men's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll. Based on the ballots that were tallied, the Montreat College Cavaliers were chosen to finish the league's 2026-27 campaign in 10
th place.
Overall, the Cavs received 39 points in the voting process, 10 more than Bluefield University and just two fewer than Columbia College. Reinhardt University hauled in all eight first-place votes and accumulated 104 voting points as the conference's preseason favorite.
Last season, Montreat ended 13
th at the AAC Fall Preview before bouncing back with a seventh-place finish at the AAC Direct Qualifier. The Cavaliers' effort last April proved to be the program's best performance at the league's spring championship since 2022.
The 2026-27 AAC Men's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll was voted on by the head coaches of institutions in the league. Teams received 13 points for a first-place vote, 12 for second place, 11 for third place and so on until all 13 teams were ranked. Programs were then ordered by most points received to least points received.
While the Cavs open their season on Sept. 14-15 with the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational, the conference's two primary events land on Oct. 26-28 and April 26-28. Both the AAC Fall Preview and the AAC Direct Qualifier are hosted at Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Ga.
