KANSAS CITY, Mo. — According to a release from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday morning, the Montreat College men's track & field team remained inside the top 10 of the organization's NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI). While the Cavaliers dropped one spot, they still landed at No. 10 in the latest poll, marking their third consecutive appearance inside the top 10.
The Cavs garnered 159.28 points in the newest edition of the TFRI, 2.70 points better than 11
th-rated Doane (Neb.) and 8.85 points behind No. 9 Carroll (Mont.). The Cavaliers rated as the top program in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), as well as the fourth-best South Region squad.
Montreat currently possesses six top-10 showings across the NAIA this season, including two of the association's best times.
Ryan Stade leads the pack in the 5000m with a remarkable 13:53.97 performance, and he also owns the NAIA's third-fastest 10k effort at 29:46.86.
Nathan Cremin holds the Cavs' other association-best mark, doing so with a record-setting 1:46.45 time in the 800m. The Limerick, Ireland native ranks ninth in the 1500m as well (3:48.00).
Brock Lauer and
Hugo Petat-Hemono delivered All-American worthy showings in the 3000m steeplechase earlier this year. The former is responsible for the NAIA's fifth-quickest time in the event (9:11.37), while the latter's 9:11.70 performance stands as the sixth-fastest effort.
