WALESKA, Ga. — For the second straight instance, a Montreat College student-athlete was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week, that according to a release from the league office on Monday afternoon. After
Vitor Monteiro garnered recognition just seven days ago,
Fabrizio Moreno picked up his first career league honor in early April.
Moreno helped the Cavaliers go 2-0 last week, including 1-0 in AAC play. The Cavs began the month of April with a 5-1 win at Guilford College before hosting and defeating Columbia College on April 3 behind a 6-1 final score.
Overall, Moreno went a perfect 4-0 on the week. Against Guilford, the Miami native was the beneficiary of a forfeit on the No. 3 doubles court. He then crushed his opposition in the top singles matchup, coasting to a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Two days later, Moreno grabbed an exciting 7-5 triumph with his doubles partner,
Youssef Idboufous, in the third flight. Meanwhile, the sophomore's singles win at No. 4 arrived quickly. Moreno lost just two games again, this time seizing a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Moreno and the Montreat College men's tennis team host Mars Hill University on Thursday, April 9 for a nonconference matchup at Asheville Christian Academy in Swannanoa, N.C.
