Lucas Descalzi joined his teammates in receiving his first collegiate award as a Cavalier.
Descalzi picked up a pair of wins on the No. 3 singles and doubles courts during the Cavs' lone match last week. While Montreat suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat to Mars Hill University, an NCAA Division II program, on Thursday, the Pilar, Argentina native showcased his skill. Playing at Asheville Christian Academy in Swannanoa, N.C., Descalzi teamed up with
Joaquin Hernandez for a 6-4 doubles triumph. Meanwhile, the freshman erased an early 5-2 hole in singles action by claiming 11 straight games. The run resulted in a 7-5, 6-0 straight-sets victory.

Descalzi and the Montreat College men's tennis team close out the regular season on Saturday, April 18 with a nonconference match versus Methodist University in Swannanoa, N.C.
