Cavs receiving votes nationally for first time in at least 15 years

KANSAS CITY, Mo.— For the first time in at least 15 years, the Montreat College baseball team is receiving votes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. According to a release from the national office on Wednesday afternoon, the Cavaliers picked up six points in the voting process.

Montreat's six points are tied with Campbellsville (Ky.) for the 37th-most in the country. The Cavs hauled in three more voting points than Marian (Ind.) and three fewer than Indiana Tech.

At the time of the national poll's release, the Cavaliers own a 17-3 overall record and a perfect 9-0 record in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) competitions. Montreat also possesses the NAIA's longest active winning streak thanks to rattling off 17 consecutive victories between Jan. 31 and March 3. The Cavs' top ranked win this season came against No. 3 Southeastern (Fla.), who is now ranked eighth nationally. That triumph kicked off the current extended winning run.

Additionally, Montreat landed at No. 25 in the NAIA Ball Media Poll, which was released on Tuesday night. The online media outlet also selected the Cavaliers as the latest NAIA Ball Team of the Week.
