KINGSPORT, Tenn. — The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced its All-Tournament Team on Saturday following the conclusion of the 2026 AAC Baseball Tournament. Behind his stellar five-game stretch in Kingsport, Tenn., Montreat College's
Matthew Brunner appeared among the 12 All-Tournament honorees.
Brunner's postseason got off to a hot start as he registered a hit in each of his initial four trips to the plate. The Brick Township, N.J. native tallied 11 total hits across 19 at-bats, including two doubles and a homer. Brunner also scored eight times and drove in three runs, and he drew one walk and was hit by a pitch as well. While on the basepaths, Brunner gave opposing pitchers and catchers headaches by swiping a pair of bags.
Just a freshman, Brunner recorded at least two hits in four of his five games played. The production at the plate aided the Cavaliers along to a 3-2 record, with both losses coming against No. 16 Tennessee Wesleyan University, who won the AAC Tournament for the third consecutive season. Meanwhile, two of the Cavs' victories occurred versus No. 6 Johnson University.
