Davis tabbed as AAC Softball Player of the Week

WALESKA, Ga. — After launching three home runs in a single game against her former head coach, Montreat College student-athlete Lauren Davis garnered Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Softball Player of the Week recognition. According to a release from the league office on Monday afternoon, the honor marked Davis's first as a Cavalier, as well as the Cavs' first of the season.

Montreat went 3-3 during its spring break trip to Florida, including 3-2 in games in which Davis played. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native slashed .462/.533/1.308 last week. Davis totaled six hits, five of which went for extra bases—two doubles and three home runs. The sophomore also scored seven times, recorded five RBIs and drew two walks.

Davis's standout performance came on March 11 during game one of a doubleheader at New College of Florida. Squaring off against Corbin Weeks, the program's previous head coach, Davis smacked the first three homers of her collegiate career. The initial two blasts were of the solo variety, while the last longball proved to be the game-winning, two-run moonshot in extras. The Cavaliers ultimately won the contest in nine innings, 5-3, with Davis driving in four of those runs.
