KANSAS CITY, Mo.— The accolades kept coming for
Nathan Cremin on Wednesday as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) selected the Montreat College track & field star as its newest NAIA Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Cremin already claimed Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) and United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Athlete of the Week recognition on Monday for his sensational efforts in Mill Spring, N.C.
A native of Limerick, Ireland, Cremin almost made NAIA history at the Tryon Mid-Winter Collegiate Invite. Competing on Saturday in the 800m, Cremin ran the association's second-quickest recorded time ever, as well as the fastest since 1996. The junior's 1:48.30 showing easily met the NAIA 'A' standard, broke the school record and secured first place out of 51 participants.
Cremin's 800m masterpiece wasn't his only highlight of the weekend. On Friday, Cremin ran in the 600m. There, he also registered an 'A' standard time, a school record and a first-place finish. The Gardner-Webb University transfer topped a field of 17 with his 1:18.90 performance, which currently stands as the third-quickest effort in the NAIA this season.
