WALESKA, Ga.— The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced
Nathan Cremin as its Week 6 AAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Monday. For Cremin, the announcement marked his first career league honor as a Cavalier, as well as the third AAC weekly recognition for the Montreat College men's track & field program in 2026. Additionally, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) selected Cremin as its Men's NAIA National Athlete of the Week. The award marked the program's first for a male or female during the indoor season.
A native of Limerick, Ireland, Cremin nearly made NAIA history at the Tryon Mid-Winter Collegiate Invite. Competing on Saturday in the 800m, Cremin ran the association's second-fastest recorded time ever, as well as the quickest since 1996. The junior's 1:48.30 showing easily met the NAIA 'A' standard, broke the school record and secured first place out of 51 runners.
Cremin's 800m masterpiece wasn't his only highlight of the weekend. On Friday, Cremin participated in the 600m. There, he also notched an 'A' standard time, a school record and a first-place finish. The Gardner-Webb University transfer bested a field of 17 with his 1:18.90 effort, which currently stands as the third-fastest performance in the NAIA this season.
