NEW ORLEANS— After a remarkable weekend that saw the Montreat College men's track & field team notch four school records and three national standards, the Cavaliers subsequently soared up the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI). With an upward surge of 46 spots, the Cavs moved all the way to No. 12 in the latest edition of the national ratings.
Overall, Montreat garnered 74.46 points, just 4.97 points back of No. 11 Madonna (Mich.) and 3.71 points better than No. 13 Rio Grande (Ohio). The Cavaliers are currently the top-rated Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) institution, as well as the fourth-best rated South Region program.
Nationally, four top-10 efforts belong to the Cavs, all of which occurred on the track.
Ryan Stade had a hand in three of those performances. The Marysville, Kan. native owns the second-fastest 5000m time in the NAIA this season (14:10.52). He also possesses the sixth-quickest 3000m showing (8:22.89), and he ran the final leg in the association's third-fastest distance medley relay (9:59.13).
Nathan Cremin, who ran the initial leg of the DMR, also sits on top of the NAIA's 1000m leaderboard with a time of 2:24.39.
Jordan Pippin and
Brock Lauer contributed to the Cavaliers' record-setting DMR as well.
