WALESKA, Ga.— According to a release from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) office Monday afternoon, Montreat College's
Sam Aalbue is the new AAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. This marks the first such league honor of Aalbue's career, and the first for the Cavaliers this season.
The senior from Winona Lake, Ind. had a week to remember, aiding the Cavs along to a pair of conference wins. Aalbue not only scored in each of Montreat's two matches, but she also bagged a brace against both Union Commonwealth University (W 3-1) and Spartanburg Methodist College (W 5-1). The midfielder's four-goal week now gives her five tallies for the season, matching her career-high, which she set in 2023.
Aalbue registered her goals in a variety of fashions. She scored twice via penalty kicks, once on a header and once via a long-range strike from well outside the 18-yard box. In total, she attempted seven shots during the week, with six landing on target and four finding the back of the net.

Aalbue and the Cavaliers are back on the road this Wednesday for an AAC showdown at Columbia International University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Columbia, S.C.
