WALESKA, Ga.— The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) revealed its annual women's soccer awards on Wednesday, and in addition to a plethora of academic honors, one Montreat College student-athlete found her way onto an all-conference squad. According to the release,
Sam Aalbue picked up Second Team All-AAC recognition for her performances throughout the year.
Aalbue's senior season was her most prolific goal-scoring campaign as a Cavalier. Playing her fourth year in the Navy and Vegas Gold, Aalbue started all 18 matches during 2025. The senior midfielder and captain tallied 12 goals, including game-winners against Johnson University in the regular-season finale and Spartanburg Methodist College in an AAC Tournament Play-In Game.
Overall, Aalbue registered 58 shots, placing 29 of those on goal. The Winona Lake, Ind. native scored on 20.7 percent of her shot attempts. Aalbue went 2-for-2 from the penalty spot, and she also recorded one assist across her 1,594 minutes played. In total, Aalbue racked up 25 points during her senior season.
Along with Aalbue's Second Team All-AAC nod, the Cavs secured 18 spots on the AAC All-Academic Team. Aalbue,

To qualify for the AAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must hold at least sophomore academic status while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Each institution in the league also received one spot on the AAC Champions of Character Team, and the recipients were chosen by each program's head coach.

The Montreat College women's soccer team concluded its 2025 campaign in the quarterfinal round of the AAC Tournament. Overall, the Cavaliers wrapped up the year with an 8-9-1 (6-6-1 AAC) record.
