KANSAS CITY, Mo.— For the eighth consecutive year, Montreat College garnered Champions of Character® Five-Star recognition, that according to a release from the NAIA early Monday afternoon.
Among the 210 member institutions who were named Champions of Character® Five-Star Award winners for 2024-25, Montreat is one of 60 schools to capture silver level status. Fellow Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) member Tennessee Wesleyan University also achieved silver honors.
Institutions are measured annually on their demonstrated commitment to the NAIA's Champions of Character® program. Schools earn points in several categories, including character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions also tally points based on exceptional student-athlete GPAs and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.
Montreat also contributed to the AAC being named a Champions of Character® Five-Star Conference. To be selected as a Five-Star Conference, a league must have an established Champions of Character® Conference Committee, a conduct in competition oversight committee comprised of at least three members and at least 60 percent of its member institutions earning a Champions of Character® Five-Star Award. Thirteen AAC full-time members captured a Champions of Character® nod in 2024-25.
