GREENSBORO, N.C.— The Montreat men's track & field team wrapped up the regular season portion of its 2025 outdoor slate on Friday and Saturday with a pair of last chance meets. Competing at the Hill City Twilight and the Aggie Classic, the Cavaliers' nine entries secured two national standards and two school records across eight total events.
Montreat sent just two athletes to the Hill City Twilight, hosted by the University of Lynchburg, Friday evening. Despite the small contingent of Cavs competing, those in attendance left their mark.
Ryan Stade and
Ethan Stamey delivered high-level results in the 5000m invite. Stade finished third out of 19 runners with a school-record time of 14:24.25, while Stamey matched the program's previous top time with a fifth-place effort of 14:29.02. The former showing met the NAIA 'A' standard, and the latter achieved the NAIA 'B' standard.
A trio of Cavaliers participated in events on Friday at North Carolina A&T State University's Aggie Classic.
Drew Bryant and
Daishawn Barselou represented Montreat in a pair of field events, with Bryant ending 10
th in the high jump and Barselou concluding 11
th in the triple jump. Bryant cleared 1.80m, while Barselou leapt 13.31m. On the track,
Cameron Rice sprinted to a 32
nd-place time of 22.01 seconds in the 200m dash.
Saturday featured Montreat's lone win of the weekend, as well as another school record. Back in action at day two of the Aggie Classic, the Cavaliers started the day with the 110m hurdles prelims. Out of 13 competitors,
Raymond English qualified for the finals with his program-best sprint of 14.92 seconds. English then placed eighth in the 110m hurdles finals as he shaved more time off his own school record. The freshman needed just 14.83 seconds to cross the finish line in his latter effort.
The Cavs' victory also occurred on the track. Bryant, Rice,
Jackson Mace-Maynard and
Kaleel Stevenson combined to notch a 3:20.30 time in the 4x400m relay.
Bryant was also busy in a field event Saturday afternoon. The Candler, N.C. native utilized a personal-best long jump mark of 6.79m to finish seventh out of 18 participants. His teammate, Barselou, ended 10
th thanks to his 6.63m performance.

The Montreat men's track & field team focuses next on the 2025 U.S. Marines NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which are slated for May 21-23 in Marion, Ind.
