WALESKA, Ga.— For his superb efforts at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Fall Preview and the AAC Direct Qualifier, Montreat College men's golfer
Alex Murphy captured Second Team All-AAC status, that according to a release from the league office late Tuesday night.
A native of Monroe, N.C., Murphy paced the Cavaliers at both of the conference's signature tournaments. In the fall, Murphy utilized a three-round score of 229 to tie for fifth. Back at Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Ga. earlier this week, Murphy tied for 18
th place after carding a 230. Overall, the sophomore averaged 76.5 strokes per round between the AAC Fall Preview and the AAC Direct Qualifier.
The men's golf all-conference teams are formulated based on the lowest stroke average among competitors who played all 108 holes at the AAC's fall and spring tournaments. The five-best scoring averages received First Team All-AAC nods, while the next five-best secured Second Team All-AAC honors.
Along with Murphy's on-course accomplishments, the Cavs also snagged a few other accolades.
Luke Hood,
Austin Lineberger and Murphy met the requirements to garner AAC All-Academic Team recognition. Hood represented Montreat on the AAC Champions of Character Team as well.
To qualify for the AAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must hold at least sophomore academic status and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Each institution in the league also received one spot on the AAC Champions of Character Team, and the honorees were chosen by each program's head coach.

Montreat's 2024-25 team campaign came to a close this week with an 11
th-place finish at the AAC Direct Qualifer.
