JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.— Montreat's men's golf team traveled to the Johnson City Country Club for the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout, hosted by Milligan University, on Tuesday. The two-round, one-day tournament featured 10 different competing teams and 55 participants. Montreat finished sixth of the ten teams.
 
Alex Murphy performed the best of the Cavs. In his two rounds, he shot a 71 and a 73. His solo performance placed him second overall, good for his second straight top-five finish at a tournament. He ended his outing even with par. On the day, he collected nine birdies and an eagle. No other Cavalier had an eagle across the entire tournament. Murphy's first round was electric, and at one point, he was 3-under-par through 13 holes. He ultimately finished 1-under-par in the round.
 
Austin Lineberger had two solid rounds of golf as well. He finished with round scores of 79 and 74. Lineberger tallied five birdies in the tournament. To start his second round, he was consistent with a score of 1-under-par through six holes. He ended up finishing 2-over-par in the round. Lineberger finished the event 9-over-par, tied for 11^th individually.
 
Colton Clevenger finished with a total score of 10-over-par after round scores of 76 and 78. He had one birdie on the day and 25 pars, the most of anyone on the team. Clevenger was very consistent in his first round, notching seven straight pars through the turn. Clevenger concluded his tournament tied for 15^th.
 
Luke Hood placed 44^th after his 22-over-par performance. He had round scores of 76 and 90. He found five birdies and 12 pars in his rounds. Hood's initial 18 holes were very strong, finishing just 4-over-par. His second round featured one birdie and four pars.
 
James Griffiths finished his tournament with scores of 128 and 121. He had one par on the day. Griffiths concluded in 55^th position at the two-round tournament.

The next event that the Cavs will prepare for will be the AAC Direct Qualifier. The two-day affair on April 28-29 will be held at the Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Ga.
