WALESKA, Ga.— For the first time in his career, Montreat College's
Cameron Rice was named Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week. This marks the first outdoor weekly honor of the season for the Cavaliers, as well as the second weekly honor in 2025 for the Montreat men's track & field program.
Rice snagged a trio of top-four finishes over the weekend in the Cavs' outdoor season opener. Running at the John-Hunter Classic in Columbia, S.C., Rice sprinted his way to a third-place finish in both the 100m prelims and 100m finals. The Lincolnton, N.C. native notched a time of 10.88 seconds in the former and 10.89 seconds in the latter. Overall, 41 athletes competed in the 100m dash.
Also participating in the 200m, Rice ended fourth of 50 with his 22.30-second time. The upperclassman ran the second leg of the 4x400m relay as well. Rice aided his teammates in achieving a 3:22.54 race, good for second out of 11 squads.

Rice and the Montreat men's track & field team look forward to hosting the Montreat College Open on March 21-22 at Pulliam Stadium in Black Mountain, N.C.
