BRISTOL, Tenn.— Adding another event to its regular season schedule, the Montreat women's wrestling team spent its Sunday in Bristol, Tenn. at the Tornado Open, hosted by King University. With five wrestlers competing across five different weight classes, the Cavaliers picked up one win against a strong field of NCAA and NAIA participants.
Uriah Peters-Gutierrez captured the lone victory for Montreat in the 145-lb weight class. During the opening round of her championship bracket, Peters-Gutierrez needed just 63 seconds to pin her opponent from the University of the Cumberlands. The Goose Creek, S.C. native then dropped a pair of 10-0 tech falls to NCAA wrestlers, ending her day with a 1-2 record.

Nicole Lewis and
Audrey Gribble also represented the Cavs on Sunday. Skoda battled the highest-rated wrestler among the five Cavaliers who participated, doing so against the NAIA's No. 15-ranked competitor at 131.

Montreat heads next to Fort Wayne, Ind. on Friday for the Warrior Duals, hosted by the Indiana Institute of Technology. Bouts are slated to begin at 1 p.m.
