JAMESTOWN, N.D.— Trinity Howard of the Montreat women's wrestling team took part in the first day of the NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship on Friday in North Dakota. After an early defeat, the sophomore attempted a valiant comeback in her consolation matchup, but fell short of a victory.
In the round of 32, Howard faced a tough challenge in the No. 1 seed and top-ranked wrestler at 123. She was ultimately pinned in 1:59 and dropped into the consolation bracket. Howard, who qualified for nationals for the second consecutive year, then battled the No. 13 wrestler in the NAIA. While Howard trailed by six multiple times at 10-4 and 12-6, the Queen Creek, Ariz. native leveled the bout at 12 before late points handed a 14-12 outcome to her opposition.

With her 0-2 performance, Howard finished her season with a 17-8 individual record. Women's wrestling now looks forward to the 2024-25 school year following a 2-8 (0-2 Mid-South Conference) record.
