OAK RIDGE, Tenn.— Montreat's men's track & field team competed in the Ben Martin First Chance Meet yesterday to kick off its indoor season. The Cavaliers competed in six events with a total of 15 entries. Montreat also tallied six event debuts in the meet. The Cavs went one-two-three with a school record, national standards and personal bests. They also won one event in the meet.
In the 5000m race,
Ethan Stamey broke a school record while hitting an NAIA "B" standard with a time of 14:38.69. Stamey finished second in the event out of 30 competitors.
Wyatt Wilson was one of the two athletes competing in the 3000m race walk. He won the event by nearly two minutes clocking in at 15:42.09. His time surpassed the "B" standard.
Drew Bryant took the podium in the long jump after his 6.44m performance. Bryant finished second among seven total competitors.
In the 400m race,
Jordan Pippin (52.74) and
Darrian Bonilla (53.49) finished third and fourth. There were a total of 11 entries in the event.
Lane Hargrove and
Matthew Morin etched top-five finishes in the 1000m event. Their 2:40.76 and 2:41.33 showings were good enough for fourth and fifth, respectively.
The 600m consisted of 14 runners with three of them being Cavaliers.
Senor Glenn finished fifth with a time of 1:27.65. His teammate
Matthew Morin finished two tenths of a second behind in sixth. Morin's efforts were good enough to set new personal bests in both the 600m and the 1000m.

The Cavaliers will find their next action this Saturday at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-off.
