MONTREAT, N.C.— Coming off a 27-24 record in 2023, head coach Jason Beck announced the Montreat baseball schedule for the 2024 season, a full 50-game campaign that features 30 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchups and 20 non-conference affairs over three full months.
The Cavaliers start 2024 with a stretch of 11 of their initial 15 contests on the road, beginning with a game at St. Thomas University on Jan. 26. Following another three competitions with the Bobcats, Montreat hosts West Virginia Tech on Feb. 2 and 3. After a 4-game set with Warner, the Cavs open conference play on Feb. 16 at Tennessee Wesleyan, who Montreat defeated for the first time in 11 seasons last year.
The next week begins a span of home games at Newell Field as the Cavaliers host Truett McConnell for the initial home conference matchup of the season on Feb. 23. For the conclusion of February and most of March, the Cavs compete in Montreat eight more times, highlighted by non-conference single games versus Toccoa Falls on Feb. 27 and Bob Jones on March 11 as well as a pair of AAC series against Bluefield and Johnson.
The Cavaliers then take to the road for eight contests, including competitions against AAC newcomer Pikeville from March 29-30 in addition to Columbia International the first week of April. Montreat closes out the stretch with a single non-conference game at Reinhardt.
As the team nears the end of the regular season, the Cavs host reigning AAC Tournament Champion Union (Ky.) for a 3-game set April 12-13 before playing a trio against rival Milligan at Newell Field the ensuing weekend. The final games of the regular season are scheduled at Bryan on April 26 and 27.
Baseball hopes to make a run in the AAC Tournament, which is expected to be played from April 30 through May 4 at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn.
