Baseball unveils loaded 2026 schedule

MONTREAT, N.C.— The Montreat College baseball team recently unveiled its upcoming 2026 season schedule. Not only are the Cavaliers playing three squads ranked inside the preseason edition of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Baseball Coaches' Top 25, but they also are slated to host 26 of their 50 regular season contests at home.

Diving right into ranked competition, the Cavs open the year with a four-game set at No. 3 Southeastern University from Jan. 29-31. Remaining on the road, Montreat then takes on Oakwood University for another four games the following week in Huntsville, Ala.

Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play begins in mid-February when the Cavaliers finally kick off their home slate. The Cavs welcome Columbia International University to town on the 13th and 14th for their only home contests of the month.

Following back-to-back road AAC series to conclude February, Montreat starts March with eight consecutive home games. A pair of nonconference series bookend No. 5 Tennessee Wesleyan University's journey to Newell Field on March 5-6.

The Cavaliers' only road trip in the month of March lands on the 13th and 14th. Then, the Cavs visit Lawrenceville, Ga. for a three-game set against Georgia Gwinnett College, the NAIA's preseason No. 2-ranked team. After the brief road series, Montreat returns to campus for more home action. The nine-game homestand concludes on March 27-28 with a trio of league matchups versus No. 14 Reinhardt University.

April features four conference series and one nonconference contest to conclude the regular season. After a trip to Milligan, Tenn. early in the month, the Cavaliers come back home on April 10-11 for three showdowns with Union Commonwealth University. Montreat then visits No. 18 Johnson University and Carolina University before wrapping up the 50-game regular season and 27-game AAC slate on April 24-25 against Spartanburg Methodist College.

With a good showing in league play, the Cavs hope to be among the 10 teams who qualify for the AAC Tournament. This year's conference postseason event is currently scheduled for April 28-May 2 at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn.
