Varsity student-athletes combine for 3.29 GPA during 2025-26

MONTREAT, N.C. — Improving upon their academic success from year to year, Montreat College's varsity student-athletes displayed their prowess in the classroom with another positive surge in the grade point average (GPA) department. After tallying a 3.21 GPA in 2024-25, the Cavaliers delivered a 3.29 GPA during 2025-26.

The fall semester saw the Cavs get off to a strong start with a 3.31 term GPA. Montreat's varsity student-athletes followed that up with a 3.21 term GPA in the spring.

Cycling led the way among all Cavalier varsity and club programs with a spectacular 3.91 GPA. Meanwhile, women's soccer paced Montreat's NAIA varsity squads thanks to its 3.75 GPA. On the men's side, the Cavs' top NAIA varsity team GPA proved to be 3.43, courtesy of cross country.

In total, 20 of the Cavaliers' varsity and club teams registered a GPA of 3.0 or higher, two more than the previous academic year. Seventeen of those squads meet the qualifications for NAIA Scholar Team nomination, with those honors officially slated to be unveiled in September.
