NEW ORLEANS — The Montreat College men's track & field team moved up 14 spots in the latest edition of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI), climbing all the way to No. 13 nationally.
Racking up 166.09 points, the Cavaliers landed just ahead of 14
th-rated William Carey (Miss.) and slightly behind No. 12 Doane (Neb.). The Cavs are currently the best-rated Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) program, as well as the fourth-highest rated South Region squad.
As of Tuesday morning, the Cavs own six top-10 performances across the NAIA.
Nathan Cremin holds the nation's best 800m time at 1:46.45, as well as the sixth-fastest 1500m effort (3:48.00).
Ryan Stade possesses the third-quickest 10k (29:46.86) and the fourth-fastest 5000m (14:24.94), while
Brock Lauer (3
rd; 9:11.37) and
Hugo Petat-Hemono (4
th; 9:11.70) rank top five in the steeplechase. Montreat's 4x400m relay unit of
David Irabor,
Jordan Pippin,
Cameron Rice and Cremin also maintain the 34
th-quickest showing this season at 3:19.28.
