Men’s cross country climbs to No. 16 in national ratings

KANSAS CITY, Mo.— The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its updated Men's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 on Thursday, and the Montreat College Cavaliers climbed three spots to No. 16. This marks the Cavs' 34th consecutive appearance inside the NAIA's Top 25.

Overall, Montreat accumulated 293 points in the voting process, three more than No. 17 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) but 22 fewer than 15th-rated Doane (Neb.).

The Cavaliers have competed in a pair of NCAA Division I meets since the preseason ratings were released in late August. Montreat ended fifth of 10 squads at the Elon Opener on Aug. 29 before finishing seventh of 21 at the Queen City Invite on Sept. 12. Ronald Way's remarkable showing at the latter event garnered Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week recognition.

Montreat heads to Louisville, Ky. on Oct. 4 for its lone Saturday meet of the season. The Cavs will compete against a variety of programs at the Live in Lou Classic, one of the largest cross country meets in the nation.
