HICKORY, N.C.— The Montreat men's wrestling team celebrated its seniors Wednesday evening during its final Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) dual of the 2024-25 season. Battling the St. Andrews University Knights at Harry M. Arndt Middle School in Hickory, N.C., the Cavaliers landed on the wrong side of a 32-21 final score. With the defeat, Montreat fell to 1-13 overall and 1-6 against AAC foes.
St. Andrews got off to a good start, surging in front of the hosts with a 22-0 advantage through the initial four weight classes. The visitors utilized two pins, a forfeit and an 18-5 major decision to do so.
Bryson McCraw put the Cavs on the scoreboard with a thrilling, competitive bout at 157. The Columbus, N.C. native notched a tight 12-9 decision, giving Montreat some momentum.
Caleb Johnson-White continued that Cavalier push via a forfeit triumph in the 165-lb matchup.
Despite the hosts fighting back, the Knights sealed their victory behind a pin and a major decision at 174 and 184, respectively. Senior

Matthew Cranfill registered wins via forfeit in the final two slots, but SAU still managed to walk away with a 32-21 dual triumph.
Montreat now turns its attention to the AAC Men's Wrestling Championships, which are slated for Feb. 21-22 at Life University in Marietta, Ga.
