WALESKA, Ga.— According to a release from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Monday afternoon, the Montreat women's basketball team has once again swept the WinWon AAC Women's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards.

Virginia Edmondson captured her sixth honor of the year as this week's top offensive performer, while Katie Alexander secured the first conference accolade of her career with the defensive nod. The Cavaliers have now garnered eight AAC weekly awards throughout the course of the 2024-25 season.

Edmondson helped propel the Cavs to a 3-0 week that included two road wins and a massive home victory. Montreat claimed triumphs at Union Commonwealth University (W 85-77) and Columbia International University (W 59-47) before topping Bryan College inside Kimmel Arena, 77-68. The win over Bryan was the Cavaliers' first since Jan. 23, 2017.

Currently third in the AAC in points per game (20.2), Edmondson poured in 23.3 PPG on 56.3 percent shooting. The Goldsboro, N.C. native also averaged 4.7 rebounds per contest and 2.3 assists per game. Defensively, she notched 2.3 steals per outing.

Alexander stuffed the stat sheet in all phases last week, averaging 7.3 PPG, 8.3 RPG and 8.3 APG. The sophomore hauled down 25 rebounds, 23 of which came on the defensive end of the floor, and she racked up seven steals.
