WALESKA, Ga.— According to a release from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) on Tuesday night, a pair of Montreat College women's basketball players secured league honors for their strong 2025-26 seasons.
Rymiah Sanders landed First Team All-AAC recognition, while
Sarah Williams notched Second Team All-AAC and All-Freshmen Team status.
Sanders captured a spot on the league's First Team for the first time in her collegiate career. The Durham, N.C. native ranked second in the AAC with 16.9 points per game (PPG), and she also led her squad with 32 steals. A well-rounded player, Sanders averaged the second-most rebounds per game (4.4 RPG) and assists per game (2.2 APG) among her teammates. On the year, Sanders shot 42.7 percent overall, and she was the fifth-best free-throw shooter in the conference at 81.2 percent.
Williams' stellar freshman campaign featured 16.0 PPG, fourth-most in the league. The squad's most productive shooter from the perimeter, Williams buried 58 triples at a 32.4-percent clip. She also made 42.4 percent of her overall tries from the floor and 71.7 percent of her looks at the charity stripe. The Norton, Va., native ranked third on her team with 4.2 RPG and 48 total assists.
All athletic awards were voted on and selected by the head women's basketball coaches of the AAC.
Along with the athletic honors, the AAC also unveiled its All-Academic Team and Champions of Character Team.

Ella Kate Walraven and Williams met the necessary requirements to be named to the AAC All-Academic Team. Walraven also landed on the AAC Champions of Character Team.
To qualify for the AAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher. Each institution in the league also received one spot on the AAC Champions of Character Team, and the honorees were selected by each program's head coach.

The Montreat College women's basketball team will play as the No. 9 seed against the eighth-seeded Columbia College Koalas in the opening round of the upcoming AAC Tournament. Tipoff is set for Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
