WALESKA, Ga.— Rymiah Sanders of the Montreat College women's basketball team is this season's initial Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week. According to a release from the league office Monday afternoon, Sanders captured the second AAC weekly honor of her Cavalier career.
The Cavs played just once last week, but Sanders made the most of her moment. Hosting the Carolina University Bruins on Nov. 8, Sanders poured in 30 points en route to a 91-88 triumph in the home opener. The Durham, N.C. native shot 44.0 percent from the field (11-25 FG) and connected on eight of her 10 tries at the free-throw line.
Not just a scorer, Sanders also contributed seven rebounds and a trio of assists. Three of Sanders' seven boards came on the offensive glass. She played a total of 34 minutes as the Cavaliers secured the nonconference victory.
