KANSAS CITY, Mo.— According to a release from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) on Thursday, the Montreat College women's cross country team is nationally recognized for the 36
th straight poll. In the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25, the Cavaliers sit at No. 25 overall.
 
Montreat secured 125 points in the voting process, beating out 26
th-rated Mount Mercy by 44 points. The Cavs landed 25 points back of No. 24 Oklahoma City.
 
Competing most recently at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge on Oct. 24, the Cavaliers ended fifth out of 18 squads. Only No. 2 Milligan (Tenn.), No. 3 Cumberlands (Ky.), No. 15 SCAD Savannah (Ga.) and No. 21 Rio Grande (Ohio) bested Montreat at Sequoyah Park in Knoxville, Tenn.
 
Individually, 
Heather Murphy finished as the meet runner-up, notching a 5k time of 17:19.60.

Montreat heads back to Sequoyah Park in Knoxville, Tenn. on Friday, Nov. 7 for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Cross Country Championships.
