Cross country hauls in USTFCCCA academic recognitions

NEW ORLEANS— The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) revealed its 2025 NAIA Men's and Women's Cross Country All-Academic Athletes and All-Academic Teams on Thursday. While the Cavaliers secured a handful of individual awards on each side, both cross country squads captured the annual team recognition as well.

Six Montreat College women's cross country runners garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete status this past season: Anna Baugh, Carlyn Bobo, Elena Fibraio, Heather Murphy, Macy Parks and Ragan Speer. Meanwhile, five Montreat College men's cross country runners claimed USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors: Elijah Eppley, Brock Lauer, Hugo Petat-Hemono, Philip Riddle and Ryan Stade.

To qualify for All-Academic Athlete distinction, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and qualify for the national championship meet.

Additionally, the Montreat College men's and women's cross country teams picked up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status during the 2025 season. On the women's side, the Cavs rocked a 3.6 GPA. The Cavalier men also took care of business in the classroom, achieving a 3.47 GPA.

For All-Academic Team recognition, squads must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
