MONTREAT, N.C.— An institution-record 15 Montreat College student-athletes were honored at the athletic department's ninth annual Cavalier Court of Excellence Banquet in Graham Chapel Thursday evening.
 
The Cavalier Court of Excellence was created during the 2015-16 academic year to recognize student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in the classroom and in competition, as well as those who exhibit high levels of responsibility, respect, integrity, sportsmanship and servant leadership. The honored student-athletes must be a junior or senior and hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 to be eligible. Each Montreat College athletic program can nominate one student-athlete who meets the above criteria.
 
Grace Wiegand of the women's lacrosse team took home the Cavalier of Excellence award, one of the highest accolades a student-athlete can obtain at Montreat College.

"What an amazing group of student-athletes we recognized tonight," said Director of Athletics Garrett Jones. "This group, along with all our student-athletes, have had a challenging year with the disruption Hurricane Helene has caused. I continue to be amazed at their resolve and resiliency, and I have no doubt it's because we have tremendous leaders within our programs like the group we recognized tonight."
