CENTRAL, S.C.— Heading to Southern Wesleyan University for the second time this outdoor season, the Montreat men's track & field team sent 14 athletes to Central, S.C. for the Gotta Run Invite on Friday. Twenty-three entries across nine events combined for eight top-10 efforts and a handful of personal bests.
The 4x100m relay team consisting of
Aaron Hall,
Kameron Moore,
Cameron Rice and
Dustin Blevins captured the highest finish of any Montreat entry as the Cavaliers placed second of 11 schools. Not only did the time of 41.71 end as the runner-up at the meet, but it was also just .31 seconds off the NAIA "B" standard.
Blevins ran in the 100m sprint himself, claiming third position of 36 athletes with his time of 10.75.
Drew Bryant (11.28; 14
th) and
Kameron Moore (11.43; 22
nd) set personal records in the event, while
Christopher Hernandez (12.77; 36
th) made his debut.
Kaleel Stevenson and Rice notched top-10 performances in the 200m dash on Friday, both running personal records. The former concluded ninth by crossing in 22.64 and the latter stopped his clock at 22.67, good enough for 10
th place.
In the field,
Edward McClellan used a personal best in the pole vault to end in third position. McClellan cleared 4.20m, while
Davis Nicol (3.90m; 7
th) and
Caleb Wells (3.75m; T-8
th) also finished in the top 10 of the 14 participants.
Darrian Bonilla wrapped up the top-10 showings in the long jump as he recorded the 10
th-furthest jump. In his debut in the event, the Lincolnton, N.C. native leapt 6.04m.

Men's track & field now travels to two separate meets next weekend as the Cavs participate at the VertKlasse Meeting on Friday and Saturday as well as the Gamecock Invite on Saturday.
