Men’s Track & Field Readies Itself for Conference with Weekday Meet

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.— The Montreat men's track & field team wrapped up its indoor regular season Thursday night with one final tune-up prior to next week's Appalachian Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. Participating in seven events at the JDL College Team Challenge in Winston-Salem, N.C., the Cavaliers tallied a win and three top-15 finishes as one of just two NAIA schools in attendance.

Dustin Blevins, as he has done many times in his Montreat career, captured first place in the triple jump. The King, N.C. native beat out a field of 11 jumpers, including two NCAA Division I foes, with his 14.10m effort. Blevins was the only participant to clear 14.00m on the day.

Cameron Rice relied on his personal-best time in the 60m dash to seize a top-10 placement out of 32 sprinters. The Lincolnton, N.C. native finished ninth overall, needing merely 7.12 seconds to cross the line, a time that topped one NCAA Division I runner.

The Cavs' third and final top-15 showing also came on the track. Kaleel Stevenson ran a strong race in his 200m indoor debut. Among a field of 29 athletes, Stevenson utilized a time of 23.48 seconds to place 12th.
